It is with a heavy heart that due to the forecast weather conditions (taking an average from both public and aeronautical forecasts) for tomorrow with it looking to be torrential rain until lunchtime, and with strong gusting winds continuing all day, we have taken the decision to CANCEL our event at Wellsway Sports Centre, Bristol. If everyone could please help us spread this message to any other pilots you know are due to attend it would be hugely appreciated.
Just being able to run the event in the afternoon would not allow us to fully complete all the rounds required for a qualifying event. Also, we feel it would be unfair to continue when pilots have paid for a full days racing with results submitted towards the national championship board.
As per the email sent out earlier this week to all registered pilots - refunds will take place this evening of entry fees via PayPal and your names kept on file for a discount on the next event.
Our next event will be taking place at Weston Helicopter Museum on Saturday 17th July with sign up taking place in early June – so please do keep an eye out on iFPV for this and hope to see you all there!
After the success of our events in 2020 Westland Drone Events are proud to be part of the iFPV race calendar with our 2021 series - all of which will be counting towards qualfying positions for the British Championships 2021.
For our first event we are lucky to be hosted again by Wellsway Sports Centre, just off the M5/M4 Corridor between Bristol and Bath. There will be limited on-site power, vending machines and most importantly - flushing toilets! Precautions will be taken in the organising of the day to make this event "COVID-Secure" and more detail on this will be provided in the Pilot Pack ahead of the event. Due to this we will be limiting this event to 36 pilots - so be quick to sign up!
As in previous years all Westland race tracks will be built using inflatable gates making this a softer ride for your quads if its pilot fails to get it through the gate.
All our events are run using an ImmersionRC LapRF timing system linked to Livetime for rock solid timing and all the benefits you’ve come to expect. We will also be live streaming all events to Facebook, YouTube and LiveFPV so that you can easily review your race performance.
Important notice: You must be a member of the British Drone Racing Association (BDRA) prior to the event for your points to count towards national statistics.
Sign up will open Sunday 18th April @ 8pm and will be completed via the iFPV site to confirm BDRA membership.
Note: Please ensure your BDRA membership is showing within your iFPV profile ahead of sign-up - as the check function for this will be temporaily suspended approx. 15 minutes before sign up.
Price is £30 for BDRA members and £35 for non-BDRA members - this will need to be paid via PayPal via the iFPV sign-up process.
