Scottish May-beQE – Saturday May 24th & Sunday May 25th
For the second year running the team running the Scottish national series are going to attempt a BQE. We hope this year more pilots will join us and help us achieve BQE status. This time the venue will be the new home of Glasgow FPV within the grounds of Craufurdland Castle.
In Scotland we pride ourselves in providing great racing for pilots of all abilities, from first time flyers to seasoned pros all are welcome here. All we ask is that you have a maximum of 6-inch props, max 6s packs, use HDZero or Analog at 25mw, TX power of 100mw, and are fully insured. All insurance providers are welcome, but we recommend FPVUK or BMFA.
This race will also serve as round 3 of the Scottish National series, HOWEVER as you must compete in at least 2 events to have your position counted towards that series. This rule is to allow the most competitive outcome for the entire Scottish season as we run a best 4/5 race requirement, and we deemed that having pilots who are competing in Scotland’s championship position in a single race be pushed down by the BQE would not be fair.
Rules
In an attempt to try new things, and promote a scenario where pilots are encouraged to push for the fastest time we will be running the following rule changes:
· Fastest 3 Consecutive laps in a single round
· 3 Lap finals for all
Due to low pilot numbers in Scotland we tend to run 4 pilot heats and finals as we find this spreads the pilots out into more heats and provides a less chaotic race. With this in mind if there are less than 28 pilots at the start of the day we will be running 4 pilots per heat and finals as we target 7 heats to allow some downtime throughout the day.
The track WILL NOT be created until the Friday evening before the event and will not be flown by any pilots until the first heat.
Our Site
Glasgow FPV have been working hard since the start of the year to provide the best site possible for FPV racing. However, it is not quite there yet so we suggest that you bring at least the following:
· Your own shelter, and pit furniture. Pilot chairs will be provided
· The ability to charge your packs
· Something to travel the reasonable distance from parking to the pits (about 200m)
· Shoes that can withstand some moisture… wellies.
As we are in the grounds of an existing tourist attraction there are toilets and a café within a short walk. Sadly unless we breach a certain number of pilots on the day we are unable to provide camping but there are hotels near by
Dosh
Our venue is paid for by an extreme membership payment from our few dedicated members. As more of a donation to keep the club running and to fund some prizes for the day the entry fee will be £22 (£20 for BDRA members).
As it’s the May-beQE and we do not know for sure that we will make it to the 18 pilots required we will be offering full refunds if we do not make it to 18 pilots and you choose not to fly with us. If you need to cancel for another reason, please do so a minimum of 7 days before the event. Otherwise, we will have spent your cash on prizes or running the event and will be unable to provide a refund.

1030 – 1630 (approx.) – Qualifying
1630 – 1800 – BYOF BBQ prep & shopping
1800 – 2100 – BYOF BBQ
Sunday
0930 – 1400 – Qualifying
1400- 1630 (approx.) Finals
1630+ Take down and tidy
In Scotland we love to race hard but it is not as important to us as the community we form around the hobby we love. We ask that people try to keep the heat to a minimum and be kind and respectful to each other and remember that the event is run by volunteers who are doing there best to create a great experience. You are all invited to our “bring your own food BBQ” (because we canny sell it to you) on the Saturday evening. Don’t go away and eat alone join us and make some new friends. Time will be given after the racing to go away and get what you need, but we will do our best to provide/share utensils and disposable BBQs.
